Stinson Faces Second Charge In Player's Death

A Jefferson County grand jury has returned a second felony indictment against former Pleasure Ridge Park High School football coach Jason Stinson.

Stinson is now also charged with wanton endangerment in the August, 2008 death of 15 year old PRP player Max Gilpin, who collapsed from heat stroke during practice and died several days later.

Stinson was charged with reckless homicide in January. He pleaded not guilty and will stand trial August 31. He’ll be arraigned Friday on the new charge.

Prosecutor Jonathon Heck tells the Courier-Journal that the new charge was brought after further investigation of the case.

Each charge carries a penalty of up to five years in prison.
