Dumps Available For Flood-Damaged Waste

by Gabe Bullard on August 6, 2009

Louisville Metro Government will open three dropoff sites for flood-damaged materials starting Friday.

From noon until 8 PM residents can take the materials to the Morris Forman plant, Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium or the old Phillip-Morris plant and leave it in dumpsters.

Mayor Jerry Abramson says the locations will be staffed to make sure no one leaves any inappropriate refuse.

“Yard waste, tree limbs, tires, raw garbageā€¦not acceptable; we’re talking about wet stuff like furniture and rugs and carpet and clothing and wet drywall and items that were literally ruined as a result of the flood,” he says.

The Metro United Way is offering volunteers to help load and haul flood-damaged materials. The dumps will be open until the 16th of this month.
