Abramson Says He'll Make Re-Election Decision This Summer

by Rick Howlett on June 26, 2009

Louisville Mayor Jerry Abramson says he hasn’t decided yet whether he’ll seek re-election in 2010.

Abramson say he’ll make the decision either next month or in early August.

“Because I’ll either have to start raising money for the next year’s may primary if we run again, or let the other folks…..and it will be a cavalry charge,” Abramson said, referring to others who might run if he does not seek another term.

Abramson is eligible to run for a third and final four-year term as metro mayor.

He previously served as mayor of Louisville for 13 years prior to the city/county government merger.

The mayor spoke Friday on WFPL’s State of Affairs program.
