After 135 years of operation, Churchill Downs will host its first night racing event later this week.
Churchill spokesman Darren Rogers says the track will be transformed into a very different atmosphere during the evening.
“We’re going to try and redefine the racetrack experience and keep our sport relevant to today’s customers. It’s going to be a unique, sleek, nighttime upscale kind of a club-like feel in the paddock area,” says Rogers.
Three night racing events are scheduled to take place between June and July.
The first night racing event is scheduled for Friday. The first race is set for six.
