A case of swine flu has been confirmed in northern Indiana.
Indiana Department of Homeland Security Spokesperson Rachel Meyer says the patient is recovering, and the incident is not cause for alarm.
“Basically what we’re doing right now, we’re still encouraging people to follow everyday health precautions like washing your hands and covering your nose and mouth,” she says.
Meyer says the situation is unique because the patient has not traveled to Mexico recently. No cases of the flu have been reported in southern Indiana or Kentucky.
