U of L Advances To Big East Final; UK Likely NIT-Bound

by Rick Howlett on March 13, 2009

The Louisville Cardinals will play Syracuse Saturday night for the men’s Big East Tournament college basketball title. The Cards advanced to the Big East final for the first time since joining the league with a 69-55 win over Villanova Friday night at Madison Square Garden.

Meanwhile, Kentucky fell to LSU 67-58 in the quarterfinal round of the Southeastern Conference Tournament in Tampa. It’s unlikely UK will receive an at-large bid to next week’s NCAA tournament; they would instead have to settle for a spot in the National Invitation Tournament.
