A Kentucky Senate commiteee has given unanimous approval to a bill that would prohibit unmarried couples from adopting children or taking in foster children.
Senate Bill 68, sponsored by Sen. Gary Tapp (R-Shelbyville) goes to the full Senate after winning approval by the chamber’s Judiciary Committee Thursday.
The measure has come under heavy criticism and prompted a rally by opponents last month in Frankfort.
The Fairness Campaign and others call the bill a thinly veiled attack on gay people, which Tapp denies.
