by Brad Yost on February 4, 2009

HomeGrown examines numbers good and bad this week, with an interview on the annual Great Backyard Bird Count and a look at the mountains of plastic gardening pots that the not-always-green horticulture industry sends to landfills every year.  Patricia Leonard, spokesperson for the Cornell University Lab of Ornithology, has the who, what, when, where and why of counting the country’s birds.  Illinois nurseryman Platt Hill talks about his national crusade to make the nursery industry more environmentally responsible by standardizing containers and implementing a customer return policy.
