Yarmuth Calls Atmosphere in DC 'Euphoric'

by scrosby on January 20, 2009

Congressman John Yarmuth of Louisville says today’s Presidential Inauguration is something he won’t soon forget. He says the entire city of Washington, D.C. and the rest of the country have been swept up in its events.

“It’s surprising to me because the times are so serious, the country is in a very, very deep predicament economically,” says Yarmuth, “and yet there’s this euphoria that’s been throughout this city and certainly this day.”

Yarmuth says it’s wasn’t at all a solemn occasion, but that speaks to the excitement many Americans have about a new administration in Washington.
