Kentucky Faces E. Carolina In Liberty Bowl

by Rick Howlett on January 1, 2009

The University of Kentucky football team is back in action Friday.

The Wildcats will take on East Carolina in the Autozone Liberty Bowl in Memphis.

It’s Kentucky’s third straight bowl game but its first-ever appearance in the Liberty Bowl.

UK finished the regular season with a six-and-six record.

East Carolina is coming off a strong nine-and-four season in which the Pirates captured the Conference USA title.

Kentucky’s starting quarterback will be Mike Hartline. He started the Wildcats first eight regular season games but was replaced by freshman Randall Cobb. Cobb suffered a late-season injury and is listed as doubtful for the game.

Kickoff for the Liberty Bowl is at 5pm Eastern time Friday.
