Louisville metro will recycle and turn into mulch nearly six tons of Christmas trees after the holidays. If you live in the urban services district, or the older part of the city, you can set your tree out on the curb for pick up, and it will be recycled. If you’re outside that district and don’t have curbside recycling, you can bring it to one of three drop-off centers on Hubbards Lane, Outer Loop, or Meriwether Avenue. City spokeswoman Kerri Richardson says home gardeners will want to take advantage of the fresh mulch.
“If you bring a tree in, be sure to take a container with you, because you can take as much of that back as you want to put around your flower beds at home,” says Richarson.
Richardson says Christmas tree vendors will be given designated times to bring in their unsold trees for recycling, as well.
