Bunning Says He'll Seek Third Term

by Rick Howlett on December 9, 2008

U.S. Senator Jim Bunning of Kentucky has repeated his intention to seek a third term in 2010.

The 77 year old Bunning has been questioned recently about his political future because he has raised relatively litte money for his re-election bid.

The Republican had $175,000 in campaign cash at the end of the last reporting period September 30, but says he’s gearing up for the next race.

“I just formed what is known as a steering committee. it’s a group of people you get together that commit to raising certain amounts of money. I did that up here and I’m doing that in Kentucky right now,” Bunning said.

He spoke from Washington during a conference call with reporters.
