KLC Convention Begins Thursday In Louisville

by Rick Howlett on October 15, 2008

The ripple effect of the national economy on local governments is expected to dominate the discussion at the Kentucky Leage of Cities Convention and Expo that begins tomorrow Thursday at the Kentucky International Convention Center.

K-L-C Executive Director Sylvia Lovely says the 800 conference participants will also talk about the upcoming state legislative session, environmental issues and adjusting to population shifts.

“Cities, as you know are the engine of growth in Kentucky, as more people are living in cities than outside of cities, and they need to come together, because the same time we’re experiencing all the expense loads and declining revenues is the very same time we need to be building quality of life issues for a population that can live and work anywhere,” Lovely said.

Governor Steve Beshear will address the group Friday morning.
