Kentucky Businesses on Trade Mission to China

by kespeland on August 25, 2008

The Kentucky World Trade Center is planning a trade mission to China.  Trade Center Vice President Ying Juan  Rogers says the goal is to bring representatives of small to medium sized businesses to meet with business and government officials and, it’s hoped, establish some new relationships.  Rogers says Kentucky already exports more than half a billion dollars worth of good to Chinese markets.  But there’s still plenty of untapped potential.

“For the consumer market, they have a great population; they have 1.3 billion people.  And it’s a tremendous market for us. And the Chinese consumer has increased their level of spending, so they have more money now to buy our products,” Rogers says.

Rogers says several large firms are already doing business in China, but this is a chance for smaller firms to look for new opportunities.  The late October trip will take business representatives to Beijing and Shanghai.  And China native Rogers will lead the group.
