The body of 47year old Luke Kruytbosch was found Monday morning at an apartment he was renting in Evansville.

Kruytbosch recently finished his announcing duties at the Spring Meet at Churchill Downs and had begun work at the summer meet at Ellis Park.

The cause of death has not been determined.   An official with the coroner’s office tells the Evansville Courier the death appears to be from natural causes.

In a statement, Churchill Downs President Steve Sexton called Kruytbosch “a marvelous talent with a timeless announcing style that connected directly with fans throughout North America.”

Kruytbosch became the Churchill Downs track announcer in 1999 after a three-year stint at Hollywood Park.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
