Louisville's Tap Water Tops In National Taste Test

A panel of judges from the American Water Works Association has declared that Louisville has the country’s best-tasting tap water.

The panel made up of scientists, food and wine critics and a television consumer advocate gave Louisville’s water the top prize during the association’s meeting in Atlanta this week.

Louisville Water Company spokesperson Barbara Crowe said the city’s tap water has always fared well in taste tests.

“We know we have great water, our customers tell us we have great water, but it’s always nice when somebody outside your service area confirms what you already know, that it’s really good. and we’re very proud of being the best of the best,” Crowe said.

She said the city’s tap water quality is the result of abundant supply from the Ohio River, a 150 year history of treating water, and a well-maintained treatment system.
