Super-delegate Beshear Not Yet Declared

by kespeland on May 21, 2008

Kentucky governor Steve Beshear spoke to NPR last night after the results of the democratic primary became clear.  As a super-delegate for the Democratic Party, Beshear could play a role in determining the nominee for presidential candidate at the convention this August.  But he wasn’t revealing much about which way his vote might swing.

“I don’t really feel any pressure to move rapidly to make a decision on this.  I certainly think that Senator Clinton by her victory here tonight and the size of it has earned the right to go on through the rest of the primaries if that’s what she wants to do, and see how this turns out,” he said.

Beshear did not disclose how he voted in the primary.  The democratic governor did say that he thinks Clinton won by such a wide margin in Kentucky because she and her husband, the former president, are relatively well known here.
